As an NMC&A Intern at Centrus Energy, you’ll gain practical experience supporting a critical program within the nation’s uranium enrichment mission while building technical and professional skills for your future career.

This opportunity is ideal for students in nuclear engineering, physics, chemistry, data analytics, or related STEM fields who are interested in nuclear safeguards, national security, and materials management.

What You Will Do

As an NMC&A Intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals to support the control, accounting, and verification of nuclear materials. You may assist with inventory tracking and reconciliation, review records and data for accuracy, and analyze engineering or measurement data using tools such as Microsoft Excel. You’ll have opportunities to support inventory verification activities, identify and resolve data discrepancies, and help ensure NMC&A requirements are incorporated into project activities. You may also assist with procedures, reports, and other program documentation while gaining exposure to how NMC&A supports safe, secure, and compliant uranium enrichment operations. Throughout the summer, you’ll work on meaningful projects and deliver a final presentation highlighting your contributions, findings, and key lessons learned.

  • Enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor’s or graduate program in STEM or related fields.

  • U.S. citizenship

A Successful Candidate Brings

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for analysis and reporting
  • Completion of at least one year of college-level coursework in a technical field

Pay

Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $23-$25/hr. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test and vetting to ensure Centrus Energy can meet the requirements of 10 CFR Parts 810 and 1017 to grant access to export-controlled information and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information, respectively. Such access is required for the performance of this position.
