The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests annually. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.
Position Summary
Provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks. The incumbent may also be responsible for patient and specimen registration and specimen delivery.
Location: Lafayette, IN
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift
- Monday through Friday: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Every third weekend: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Rotating holidays
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory setting or coursework in biological, chemical, or related sciences preferred.
- May require a valid Indiana driver’s license and a good driving record for the previous three years.
- May require an understanding of Indiana traffic laws.
- Working knowledge of computers required.
- Telephone skills required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member required.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time required.
- May serve on committees or projects that contribute to the overall purpose and essential functions of the department.
