- What is Penetration Tester ?
- This role is responsible to conduct authorized penetration testing and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by malicious actors.
- What does Penetration Tester do?
Penetration Testing & Security Assessments
- Plan and execute authorized penetration tests across internal and external networks, web applications, APIs, infrastructure, endpoints, and other technology environments.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and manually validate identified vulnerabilities.
- Identify exploitable vulnerabilities and assess their potential business and security impact.
- Conduct authenticated and unauthenticated security testing as applicable.
- Perform network, web application, API, wireless, cloud, and infrastructure security assessments based on organizational requirements.
- Conduct security testing following established methodologies and industry best practices.
- Simulate realistic attack scenarios to assess the organization's ability to prevent, detect, and respond to security threats.
- Identify opportunities for privilege escalation, lateral movement, unauthorized access, and data exposure during authorized assessments.
- Maintain proper documentation and evidence of testing activities and findings.
Reporting & Remediation
- Prepare detailed penetration testing reports covering vulnerabilities, risk ratings, affected assets, evidence, potential impact, and remediation recommendations.
- Clearly communicate technical vulnerabilities and their potential business implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work with IT teams to support the remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
- Prioritize findings based on severity, exploitability, business impact, and organizational risk.
- Conduct remediation validation and re-testing to confirm that vulnerabilities have been appropriately addressed.
- Maintain records of identified vulnerabilities and their remediation status,

- Proactively identify recurring vulnerabilities and security weaknesses across the organization's technology
- Recommend improvements to security controls, configurations, application architecture, and security practices.
- Support secure design reviews and provide security input during the development or implementation of new applications and technologies.
- Participate in vulnerability management and security risk assessment activities.
- Keep abreast of emerging vulnerabilities, attack techniques, exploits, and cybersecurity trends.
- Continuously enhance penetration testing methodologies, tools, scripts, and testing processes.
- Support internal security audits, compliance assessments, and cybersecurity initiatives where required.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all penetration testing activities are conducted with appropriate authorization, defined scope, and documented rules of engagement.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of information accessed during security assessments.
- Ensure testing activities comply with organizational security policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and evidence for audit and compliance purposes
Requirements
What are we looking for and what does it require to be Penetration Tester ?
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering.
- At least 5-8 years of relevant hands-on experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, offensive security, or cybersecurity especially in advisory/consultancy firms (highly desirable).
- Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification is preferred.
- CREST Certified Penetration Testing certification is preferred.
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification is preferred.
- CompTIA PenTest+ certification is desirable.
- GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) certification is desirable.
- Strong analytical, critical, and investigative thinking, with a high attention to detail and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrated with a strong commitment to integrity, professional ethics, and sound judgment.
