Join an IT team supporting all users (local and remote) at Weir Canada Inc. As a member of the Support Team, within the Testing and Infrastructure Support (TIS) Section, you will support, troubleshoot, deploy, and improve diverse technologies that enable business and operational capabilities for the company and its users.

In this role, you will provide IT support for the internal network which provides office automation and various tools to the users (local and remote). This position is ideal for a resourceful, hands-on IT professional who enjoys solving problems and supporting users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide network infrastructure support for all Microsoft Windows production servers by updating, maintaining and patching.
  • Provide support for all Microsoft Windows workstations (desktops and laptops) by updating, maintaining and patching.
  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot data backups via a Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) / Veeam backup solution as well as ongoing disaster recovery support.
  • Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve outages, bottlenecks, vulnerabilities, and other operational issues.
  • Support core network and system services, including Cisco technologies, Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and security platforms.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, asset records, and technical procedures while ensuring compliance with security and operational best practices.
  • Coordinate life-cycling of all hardware on the network (i.e. servers, workstations, networking devices, security devices, etc.).
  • Provide support to end users.

Must-haves

  • DEC, Certification, or University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of IT infrastructure and network support experience, including experience supporting enterprise network environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and security issues.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, VMware, virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with data backup and disaster recovery systems.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills in both English and French, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Mandatory Requirement: Canadian citizenship, with 10 or more years residing in Canada with no periods longer than six continuous months out of country, is absolutely necessary as part of the requirements to obtain a government security clearance to the minimum level of Secret

Nice-to-haves (desirable)

  • Working knowledge of Citrix environments and Citrix NetScaler ADC Gateway appliances.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, security best practices, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience supporting Cisco networking technologies, network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN, QoS), firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and web/email security solutions.
  • Can communicate equally well with senior leaders, engineers, technicians, and end users.
