Our world-class Labor and Delivery is the place where pregnant moms receive superior maternal-fetal care throughout monitoring, labor, and delivery. Each year, our unit brings over 6,700 babies into the world. Through our dynamic Perinatal Program, we deliver excellent patient and family-centered care to patients with varying levels of risk.

Become part of Cedars-Sinai’s renowned Labor & Delivery team, delivering over 6,700 babies annually. Our Perinatal Program offers patient- and family-focused care for both high-risk and low-risk patients in a dynamic, cooperative setting.

We are seeking a Nursing Communications Technician (NCT) to serve as a central communication and administrative resource for the Labor & Delivery unit. Working under the general supervision of a licensed caregiver, the NCT supports patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other departments while helping the unit operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients, families, visitors, and staff and respond to requests with integrity and excellent customer service.
  • Answer patient calls and call lights promptly and route or bring up requests to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Communicate patient needs to RNs and Clinical Partners in a timely manner.
  • Respond promptly to bed alarms and bathroom calls and notify appropriate staff of patient-safety needs.
  • Perform clerical and administrative functions related to medical records and unit operations.
  • Review CS-Link and perform applicable admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) tasks.
  • Maintain and update staff assignment boards, contact information, patient call systems, locators, and pagers.
  • Coordinate equipment tracking and repairs and maintain inventory of unit technology, including Voalte phones, chargers, and iPads.
  • Assist with inventory control for forms, office supplies, and other unit resources.
  • Welcome and orient new employees and staff floating to the department.
  • Educate patients about available resources and technology.
  • Maintain an organized workstation and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Manage the unit tube system, excluding medications.
  • Attend required Cedars-Sinai education and training sessions.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience, required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical setting, or successful completion of an approved course in hospital clerical responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
