ABOUT YOU

As a Leave and Accommodations Manager, you are a trusted and compassionate HR professional who combines strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and deep expertise in employee support, compliance, and workplace accommodations. You excel at navigating complex and sensitive situations with discretion, balancing employee advocacy with organizational needs while building credibility and trust with leaders, employees, and stakeholders at all levels. Highly organized, analytical, and solutions-oriented, you communicate difficult concepts with clarity, approach challenges with fairness and consistency, and continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, reduce risk, enhance compliance, and create a positive and supportive employee experience.

What you will do

  • Lead Massport’s leave of absence and workplace accommodations programs by applying expert knowledge, sound judgment, and a people-first approach to support employees, ensure compliance, and balance operational needs with organizational goals.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees, managers, HR, Labor Relations, Legal, and leadership by providing guidance on complex leave, accommodation, attendance, and employee relations matters, fostering consistency, fairness, and informed decision-making.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance, legal, and operational risk through proactive case management, strong documentation practices, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, while safeguarding confidential employee information and promoting program integrity.
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating program effectiveness, analyzing trends and metrics, developing training and educational resources, and enhancing policies, processes, and systems to strengthen compliance, improve manager confidence, and elevate the overall employee experience.

What you offer

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR) is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years administering leave and accommodation programs such as FMLA, ADA, PFML, and other federal and state leave regulations, with experience managing complex employee cases.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, leave administration, employee relations, HR systems, compliance practices, and collective bargaining agreements, preferably within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrate exceptional judgment, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage sensitive matters, balance competing priorities, influence stakeholders, and drive positive outcomes.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000 annually and will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, training, specialized skills, and overall qualifications.
