KEY OBJECTIVE
To investigate, evaluate, reserve, and resolve property claims via telephone adjusting with technical accuracy, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to service excellence, while adhering to all applicable claims service standards, policy provisions, and regulatory requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver exceptional customer service that reflects Chubb's differentiated value proposition.
- Analyze the first report of loss to determine coverage, nature of loss, and scope of damage.
- Conduct thorough claim investigations, securing and filing all supporting documentation while verifying accuracy, relevance, and completeness.
- Critically review property restoration estimates to ensure accuracy and fairness.
- Establish accurate reserves in a timely manner, adjusting as new information warrants.
- Identify when claims exceed authority and proactively seek the appropriate technical assistance.
- Achieve an open-to-closed inventory ratio of 1:1 or better.
- Maintain an active claim diary to ensure the proactive and timely disposition of all files.
- Document all claim developments promptly and accurately within the claim file.
- Advance file investigations to the fullest extent possible at the telephone adjustment level, then refer files to field or examiner adjusters as required.
- Exercise sound judgment in evaluating nature of loss, liability, coverage, applicable limits, and damages to reach well-reasoned final dispositions.
- Negotiate settlements effectively where appropriate, applying technical knowledge and professional discretion.
- Communicate clearly and collaboratively with all key stakeholders including Underwriting and Brokers Partners.
- Recognize and act on subrogation and salvage opportunities where applicable.
- Effectively manage the use, work product, and expenses of outside vendors as required.
- Support CAT Duty responsibilities during major industry loss events as needed.
- Adhere to Chubb Claim Handling Best Practices in all aspects of file management.
- Completion of University degree/College diploma, and/or equivalent insurance-related education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of experience handling property claims or equivalent experience.
- CIP designation or a willingness to take CIP courses through the Insurance Institute is an asset.
- Superior customer service and negotiation skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the insurance business, knowledge of insurance contracts, and legal requirements and regulations.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to positive change
