Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Test Engineer, AXI located in Milpitas, CA.

Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager the Functional Test Engineer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems, software, and/or equipment.

What a typical day looks like

  • Support daily AXI operations and testing activities within a high-volume manufacturing environment, ensuring inspection systems are operating effectively to meet production, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Operate and support Vitrox and Omron Automatic X-Ray Inspection (AXI) equipment; analyze AXI failure images, differentiate true defects from false failures, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and coordinate with equipment manufacturers when required to resolve technical concerns.
  • Review, develop, and optimize X-ray inspection programs to improve defect detection, identify manufacturing issues, minimize escapes, and enhance overall product quality and production yield.
  • Apply strong knowledge of PCBA, SMT manufacturing processes, IPC standards, and soldering defect analysis to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform product debugging, failure analysis, and test support activities using diagnostic tools and test systems, ensuring reliable product performance and efficient resolution of manufacturing and test-related issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with production, quality, engineering, suppliers, and internal/external customers, leveraging strong verbal and written English communication skills to communicate technical findings, drive issue resolution, and support business objectives.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

  • BS (MS preferred) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 5 -7 plus years of experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer electrical technologies.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proven leadership experience driving cross-functional initiatives and operational excellence, with the ability to execute strategic objectives, influence functional processes and technologies, and deliver measurable business impact across multiple teams or areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment in complex or ambiguous situations, establish or improve methods, standards, and procedures, and provide technical leadership through coaching, mentoring, and leading teams while fostering a collaborative, values-driven culture.

 The base pay range for this position is provided below. The final base rate offered will be determined using job-related, non-discriminatory criteria, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity.

$98,700.00 USD - $135,700.00 USD Annual
