We are looking for a Battery Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced low-voltage battery packs. In this role, you will be responsible for battery pack architecture, mechanical integration, thermal management, cell evaluation, electrochemical testing, and safety compliance. Working closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, you will drive projects from concept development through prototyping, testing, and production release, ensuring high-performance, reliable, and safe energy storage solutions.

Your Roadmap to Make an Impact

  • Pack design & mechanical integration: Design low-voltage battery packs, enclosures, cell modules, busbars and interconnects in CAD — from first concept through to release-ready drawings and BOMs.
  • Thermal & structural layout: Develop thermal management concepts and validate them against mechanical loads, vibration and shock requirements of the target application.
  • Cell selection & benchmarking: Evaluate and qualify cells from different suppliers; build the data basis for design decisions on energy density, power capability, cycle life and cost.
  • Electrochemical testing: Plan, run and evaluate cell and module tests — capacity and rate characterisation, EIS, ageing and cycle-life campaigns, thermal characterisation — and derive design conclusions from the results.
  • Test infrastructure: Set up and maintain test benches, fixtures and measurement chains; build repeatable test procedures and keep the data properly documented and traceable.
  • Prototyping & validation: Build and instrument prototype packs, run the validation programme, and feed findings back into the next design iteration.
  • Safety & standards: Support hazard and risk assessments, define protection concepts (fusing, isolation, venting, propagation resistance) and prepare packs for the relevant transport and product standards (e.g. UN 38.3, IEC 62133).
  • Interface management: Coordinate technically with mechanics, electronics/BMS, manufacturing and purchasing, and act as the technical counterpart to external cell and component suppliers.
