As a Lighting Controls Specialist with our Buildings team in Vancouver , you'll lead the technical design and integration of lighting and lighting control systems for complex building projects. Working alongside electrical engineers, architects, interior designers, sustainability specialists, and clients, you'll translate design intent and performance requirements into coordinated, constructible solutions that enhance comfort, accessibility, energy performance, and the experience of the built environment.
Your Impact
- Lead the technical design of lighting and lighting control systems from concept through construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
- Design control narratives, zoning, sequences of operation, single-line diagrams, schedules, details, and specifications that turn project requirements into coordinated solutions.
- Deliver lighting calculations, fixture selections, layouts, controls integration, and code-compliance analysis that balance visual quality, energy performance, maintainability, and cost.
- Collaborate with architects, interior designers, electrical engineers, sustainability specialists, vendors, and contractors to resolve interfaces and strengthen project outcomes.
- Produce technically rigorous BIM and drawing packages, review submittals, respond to site questions, and support functional testing and commissioning.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Education in electrical engineering, architectural engineering, lighting design, building technology, or a related discipline
- Substantial experience delivering lighting and controls design for buildings, including upgrades and retrofits
- Advanced knowledge of networked lighting controls, occupancy and daylight sensing, dimming protocols, relay panels, addressable systems, emergency lighting interfaces, and integration with building automation systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop lighting control narratives, sequences of operation, riser and single-line diagrams, panel schedules, specifications, details, and coordinated construction documents.
- Proficiency with lighting calculation and design software such as AGi32, ElumTools , or equivalent, together with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM coordination workflows.
- Applied knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, British Columbia Building Code, Vancouver Building By-law, applicable energy codes, ASHRAE 90.1, and relevant lighting and accessibility standards.
- Relevant professional registration or industry credentials are assets, along with the ability to travel to project sites and follow WSP and client health and safety requirements.

Compensation
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $98,800 - $130,800
- MB & ON: $90,100 - $124,100
- NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $89,200 - $118,500
