We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting people and delivering accurate outcomes. Join our Payroll team and play a key role in ensuring thousands of employees are paid accurately and on time.

As a Payroll Officer, you will contribute to the delivery of payroll services across UnitingCare, providing timely and accurate payroll processing while supporting employees and leaders with payroll-related enquiries.

Please note, we currently have two fixed-term Payroll Officer opportunities available, with varying contract durations. Further details will be discussed during the recruitment process. Flexibility is important to us, and we know it is to you too. This role supports hybrid working by agreement.

Your part in our UnitingCare team

  • Process payroll transactions including employee maintenance, new starters, terminations and leave processing
  • Respond to payroll enquiries and provide timely, professional support to employees and leaders across the organisation.
  • Support payroll processing activities, reconciliations, audits and compliance requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support a collaborative payroll team environment.

  • Experience in payroll, administration, finance or a customer service-focused role.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when managing employee enquiries and resolving issues.
  • A positive, team-oriented approach and willingness to learn. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
  • Experience with Chris21, UKG Pro or other payroll systems is an advantage; however, we are willing to train the right candidate who brings strong customer service skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to satisfy the relevant pre-employment probity checks, including a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, Right to Work in Australia verification and qualification check where applicable.
