Job Description

Your Responsibilities

As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for providing Level 2 operational support for Oracle database environments, including:

  • Perform routine Oracle database health checks to ensure database availability and stability.
  • Start and stop Oracle databases, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)/Cloud Control, Oracle Listeners, and Oracle Monitoring Agents.
  • Monitor Oracle Enterprise Manager dashboards, alert logs, and scheduled database jobs, and resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor Oracle GoldenGate replication and Oracle Data Guard environments, including replication lag and service availability.
  • Prepare periodic database health reports and operational dashboards.
  • Monitor database host servers for CPU, memory, disk utilization, and system alerts.
  • Monitor tablespace utilization and perform storage administration, including adding or resizing datafiles and managing ASM disk groups.
  • Execute database cleanup activities such as compression, identifying top space consumers, and reclaiming storage through truncate or shrink operations.
  • Monitor RMAN backup execution, archive log backups, and perform approved database recovery and restore activities.
  • Investigate Oracle database errors (ORA-xxxx), generate AWR reports, identify blocking sessions, and support performance troubleshooting.
  • Implement approved database configuration changes, including SGA/PGA parameter updates.
  • Renew database-related certificates and remove invalid objects associated with decommissioned schemas.
  • Ensure all activities are executed in accordance with established operational procedures, change management processes, and service level agreements.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting Oracle Database Administration in enterprise environments.
  • Good understanding of Oracle Database architecture and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)/Cloud Control.
  • Experience with Oracle RMAN Backup & Recovery.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and Oracle GoldenGate.
  • Experience with Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management).
  • Ability to analyze Oracle alert logs, AWR reports, and troubleshoot database issues.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, incident management, and change management is preferred.
