ArcelorMittal's Montataire Research Centre is specialized in the development and application of advanced steel solutions for the automotive industry. Its mission is to support and facilitate the integration of new steel grades into vehicle designs and manufacturing processes.

Your role

You will join the Automotive Multi-Materials and Assembly Department within ArcelorMittal's Montataire Research and Development Centre, dedicated to automotive steel applications.

You will become part of a research team whose main objectives are to

  • Develop welding technologies, with a particular focus on laser welding processes for the production of Multi-Part Integration (MPI) laser welded blanks.
  • Support both internal and external automotive customers in defining and optimizing welding procedures for ArcelorMittal's latest steel solutions.
  • Assess and validate the weldability of new steel grades developed by ArcelorMittal.
  • Develop digital tools and simulation capabilities, including models, applications and data-driven solutions, to support product and process development.

As a Research Engineer in Laser Welding & Digital Tools, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of automotive steel solutions.

Combining expertise in welding technologies, modelling, and digitalization, you will work closely with industrial plants, customers, and R&D teams worldwide to develop innovative solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability.

Your profile

  • MSc or PhD in Engineering or Materials Science
  • Initial experience in R&D, manufacturing, welding, simulation, or digital engineering
  • Strong English communication skills
  • International mindset
