As the trusted technology partner, essential to the fulfillment of WCB’s strategic objectives, the Business Technology Services (BTS) division works collaboratively and creatively with our partners, to provide secure, innovative technology and data solutions that position WCB Alberta as an industry leader in Worker’s Compensation.
As a Microsoft Power Apps Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing low-code solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform. This role involves direct engagement with clients to gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure effective deployment across various environments. Your expertise will not only be limited to application development but will also encompass integrating DevOps practices for a seamless software lifecycle.
Your responsibilities
- Client Interaction and Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs, gather requirements, and translate them into functional low-code solutions.
- Design and Development: Design, build, and implement solutions, ensuring they are compliant with internal standards of quality as well as meeting client specifications and business needs.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of developed applications to ensure quality and performance. Work closely with clients during the testing phase to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.
- Client Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users, enabling them to effectively utilize the developed applications. Offer ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting support.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all stages of application development, from design and infrastructure to deployment.
- Continuous Learning Improvement: Stay updated with the latest developments in the Power Platform and related technologies, continuously improve skills and knowledge, and bring that knowledge back to our developer community.
Your experience and skills
- Graduate from a recognized university or institute of technology in a computer related discipline.
- Certifications in Microsoft Power Platform or related technologies.
- Proven experience in developing applications using Microsoft Power Apps.
- Strong understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, etc.).
- Design, build, document, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
- Proficient in C#, XAML, Visual Studio IDE and a good knowledge of the .NET ecosystem (e.g. .NET Framework, WPF, MAUI, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Blazor etc.).
- Proficient in JavaScript, CSS and HTML.
- Experience in application design and architectural patterns.
- Experience in a client-facing role, particularly in requirement gathering and solution design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure DevOps and understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong ability to facilitate and resolve issues.
- Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service.

Salary: $85,182.00 to $100,174.00 per annum (Salary Grade 11)
Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our Edmonton downtown or Calgary office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
