Software Engineering Manager
Position Overview
Join the team that manages the end to end technology and life cycle management of the applications hosted both on premise and in the AWS cloud.
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer Manager with 11 to 13 years of experience to join the Data and Analytics Engineering (D&AE) operational effectiveness team. The Manager will oversee the stability and performance of data integration and reporting platforms, including Ab Initio and Informatica. This role involves managing incident resolution, ensuring timely recovery of failed jobs, and coordinating root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. The manager will lead efforts to optimize operational processes, drive migration of reporting solutions to a cloud-based environment and leverage Generative AI to enable automation and self-healing capabilities. Strong leadership, technical expertise in data pipelines, and experience in managing large-scale production environments are essential.
Responsibilities
- Ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Expertise in managing team capacity, prioritizing workloads, and allocating resources effectively to meet SLAs and operational objectives.
- Skilled in setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular reviews, and implementing professional development plans to enhance team capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of Ab Initio and Informatica and Python programming experience
- Develop and manage report and data feeds involving complex queries.
- Perform root cause analysis on for data pipeline failures and data discrepancies.
- Work with business partners to resolve defects identified in a timely manner.
- Understand the requirements and use cases provided.
- Automation of application health checks and manual workarounds using python.
- Enable the self-healing capabilities to reduce the human interference, user impact and to increase the availability.
- Partner with other teams and stake holders for any clarifications needed for the timely deliverables.
- Ability to provide alternative solutions.
- Experienced with agile methodology.
- Experience with Generative AI to design and implement automation solutions and self-healing capabilities for data workflows and operational processes.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Experience with large datasets management
- Strong people management and team leadership experience
- Experience with Mainframe technologies
- Strong experience in SQL, Teradata and Unix/Linux environment
- Experience with data pipeline scheduling
- Experience with AWS services… IAM, EC2, S3, Cloud Watch, Step Functions, Lambdas, MWAA, SQS, SNS, Glue, Athena etc.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools like GitHub, Jenkins etc.
- Experience with MS Office suite & VBA along with good presentation skills.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Dynatrace or Splunk etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in the related field.
- 11+ years of experience in developer role.
- 3+ years of people management experience leading development and engineering team
- 8 + years of experience with Mainframe technologies and Unix/Linux Platform
- 8+ years of hands-on development experience with Python.
- 6+ years of experience with Informatica, Ab Initio.
- 6+ years of relational database management systems like Oracle, SQL server and Teradata.
Desired Experience
- AWS certification preferred
