About The Role

As a Senior Field Service Technician here at Honeywell, you will provide advanced technical service and support for HVAC, building automation, fire alarm, and access control systems across customer facilities. You will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for troubleshooting complex system issues, performing preventive maintenance and repairs, supporting installations and upgrades, and ensuring building systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

You will work directly with customers, contractors, project teams, engineers, and other Honeywell field personnel to diagnose and resolve technical issues and deliver high-quality service. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage complex field assignments while serving as a technical escalation point for less experienced technicians.

You will work out of our Morris Plains, NJ location and will play a critical role in maintaining the reliability, safety, comfort, and security of customer facilities throughout the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, commissioning, and service of HVAC, building automation, fire alarm, access control, and related building systems.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource and escalation point for complex field service issues.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, controls, communication, and system-level problems using schematics, drawings, diagnostic tools, and technical documentation.
  • Install, configure, program, commission, test, and optimize building automation and control systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and identify potential equipment or system issues before they result in customer downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and support HVAC controls, BAS, sensors, controllers, actuators, valves, VFDs, communication networks, and related field devices .
  • Support fire alarm and access control system troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, and service activities as required.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, control drawings, sequences of operation, and technical specifications.
  • Configure and troubleshoot building automation communication protocols and networks.
  • Work independently to plan and execute assigned service activities while maintaining productivity and service quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to Field Service Technicians and other team members on complex service issues.
  • Partner with customers, contractors, project managers, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Clearly communicate system conditions, recommended repairs, technical findings, and corrective actions to customers.
  • Support system upgrades, retrofits, replacements, and modernization projects.
  • Assist with commissioning and startup activities for new and upgraded systems.
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements, additional repairs, upgrades, and service work.
  • Complete service reports, work orders, time entries, material documentation, and other required service records accurately and timely.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Honeywell policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and customer procedures
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer service, professionalism, safety, and quality.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout the assigned territory as required.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 2 or more years of field service experience supporting HVAC, building automation/controls, fire alarm, access control, or related building systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience with HVAC controls, BAS, electrical systems, low-voltage systems, fire alarm, access control, or related building technologies .
  • Strong ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, sequences of operation, and technical documentation.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, repairs, system upgrades, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues and recommendations clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple service assignments and changing customer priorities.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while knowing when to escalate complex issues.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.

WE VALUE

  • Experience with Honeywell, Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Automated Logic, Distech, or similar BAS platforms .
  • Experience programming, configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting Tridium Niagara N4 or other building automation platforms.
  • Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or other building automation communication protocols .
  • Experience with Honeywell building automation, HVAC controls, fire alarm, or access control products.
  • Experience supporting commercial, industrial, healthcare, data center, mission-critical, or large campus facilities .
  • NICET, Tridium Niagara, HVAC, electrical, controls, automation, or other industry certifications .
  • EPA 608 Universal, NATE, OSHA, or other relevant technical certifications.
  • Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with VFDs, PLCs, controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, relays, and other control components.
  • Experience with service management systems, CRM platforms, SAP, or similar business applications.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced technicians.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Technical degree, trade school certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent combination of education and field experience.

The annual base salary range for this position is $58,400 - $73,000 . Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
