Your New Role...

The Technical Facility Planning & Engineering (TFPE) Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, commissioning, outfitting, operation and maintenance of the company’s mission-critical facilities with particular emphasis on the power, cooling, rack, and cabling infrastructures that support the company’s information technology (IT), production, post production, broadcast and transmission systems.

The Manager - Data Center Infrastructure is responsible for the design and installation of cabling systems and information technology (IT), audio/visual (AV), and television (TV) equipment in racks, control rooms and commercial office spaces.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Works closely with the IT network, server, storage, telecom, AV, production, post production, broadcast and transmission engineering groups to develop plans for new electronic equipment deployments and upgrades.
  • Works with the Technical Facility design, construction management and operations teams to develop scalable copper and fiber optic pathways, horizontal and backbone structured cabling, and rack systems to deliver IT, AV and TV signals to their respective destinations in data centers, computer rooms, equipment rooms (ERs), telecom rooms (TRs), studios, audio & edit suites, control rooms, conference rooms, offices, and workstations.
  • Works as an individual contributor and in collaboration with architects, mechanical / electrical / plumbing (MEP) engineers, consultants, equipment vendors, construction managers, trade contractors, property management and other internal / external organizations.
  • Develops detailed infrastructure plans, drawings, specifications, installation plans including: rack elevations, cable and cross connect plans, and complete Bills of Materials encompassing racks, power distribution units, electronic equipment, patch panels, work area outlets, cable material, jacks, connectors and mounting hardware.
  • Orders, receives, controls & tracks the materials required for each project.
  • In conjunction with peers, researches, identifies, and evaluates new products and helps maintain a Standard Materials List to ensure uniformity, compatibility and interchangeability across facilities.
  • Shares knowledge, ideas and best practices with other team members.
  • Establishes and oversees the application of standard practices, processes, procedures and workmanship standards to ensure the highest levels of quality, consistency, and interoperability among diverse facilities.
  • Writes Methods of Procedure (MOP) for work on live systems.
  • Manages and delivers large network infrastructure projects within established budgets and schedules.
  • Assumes total project ownership from conceptual development through project completion and final documentation.
  • Manages the technical, cost and schedule performance of subcontractors assigned to the project. This includes the preparation of drawings, specifications, scopes of work for the subcontractor’s use and review of the subcontractor’s deliverables for compliance, completeness and quality.
  • Effectively schedules and utilizes the project workforce.
  • Manages people effectively, demonstrates an ability to teach and mentor, and provides regular feedback on performance.
  • Monitors office and data center Moves / Adds / Changes and coordinates rack and cabling tasks as required.
  • Ensures cabling and equipment is installed and connected properly and documentation is up to date.
  • Strives for continuous improvement and maintains Change Control, Configuration Management, and current documentation.
  • Travels to sites to oversee structured cabling and equipment installations.

Qualifications & Experiences...

  • A Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering; or an equivalent combination of skills, professional training, certification and experience.
  • Full lifecycle project management experience applicable to the design, deployment and maintenance of structured cabling infrastructures for commercial office spaces and technically complex, high availability, 24x7, mission critical facilities.
  • Ideal candidate will have strong practical and theoretical knowledge of rack and structured cabling systems in both commercial office and data center environments.
  • A high level of initiative, customer focus, and aptitude for learning.
  • Ability to work independently and produce excellent results in a highly dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization and across project teams.
  • Must be exceptionally organized, methodical and attentive to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and follow-up skills.
  • Proven ability to break complex issues into manageable parts, establish priorities among multiple tasks and work collaboratively with team members to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining schedules and meeting deadlines.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through clear and concise reports, meetings, calls and one-on-one dialogue.
  • Strong presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications and AutoCAD experience a plus !
