About The Role

The Associate Researcher, Part-time performs all the regular duties of a full time Associate Researcher, but due to abbreviated hours doesnt qualify for exemption. This is an hourly position which is eligible for overtime, intended to be used for part-time employees. Under moderate supervision, conducts routine and standardized experiments using advanced techniques specific to the research project. Analyzes and assists in interpreting moderately complex results.

  • Analyze environmental samples, including water, soil, sediment, air, and waste, for organic and inorganic contaminants.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments such as GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, and ion chromatography systems.
  • Prepare samples using approved extraction, digestion, filtration, dilution, and preservation techniques.
  • Follow validated analytical methods issued by the EPA, ASTM, ISO, and other applicable regulatory organizations.
  • Perform quality-control procedures, including blanks, duplicates, matrix spikes, calibration checks, and certified reference materials.
  • Review chromatograms, instrument outputs, calculations, and quality-control results to confirm data accuracy and validity.
  • Document laboratory activities thoroughly and maintain complete chain-of-custody and sample-tracking records.
  • Investigate unusual results, contamination, instrument failures, and quality-control deviations.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate analytical findings to laboratory managers, clients, and project teams.
  • Comply with laboratory safety procedures, chemical-hygiene requirements, and hazardous-waste disposal regulations.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, standards, reagents, and chemical inventories.
  • Support method development, validation, verification, and continuous process improvement.
  • Train and provide technical guidance to laboratory technicians and junior staff.
  • Meet required turnaround times while maintaining high standards of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Bachelors Degree in science or related field or equivalent experience
