To support this mission, we're looking for a Performance Marketing Lead to scale Apify’s paid acquisition and own the channels, budget, and team behind it.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- You have 8+ years in performance marketing, growth, or user acquisition, ideally at a B2B technology or PLG/SaaS company.
- You've built and led a performance marketing team: hiring, mentoring, and restructuring it as it grows.
- You've managed budgets of $1M+ and can explain how you allocated them. LTV/CAC, payback periods, and ROAS are numbers you argue about, not just report.
- You've run acquisition hands-on across the major ad platforms, plus at least some of affiliate, partner, and influencer channels.
- You know your way around a modern data stack, and you've built attribution models together with Data team.
- You build systems rather than run campaigns: testing frameworks, reporting, and creative briefing your team can run without you.
- You work as a peer to Product, Sales, Data, and the rest of marketing, and you can get those teams aligned on shared targets.
- You can take a strategy, a budget request, or a bad quarter to executive leadership in clear written and spoken English.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Own paid acquisition across every paid channel: the strategy, the channel mix, and the targets it has to hit.
- Build and lead the team, including hiring, career development, and how the team is structured as it grows.
- Set and manage the budget: forecasts, allocation across channels, and reporting against user acquisition, ROI, and LTV/CAC targets.
- Own the attribution model together with the Data team, and get the rest of marketing to agree on it and use it.
- Run the testing program across the whole funnel, from creative and copy to landing pages and audience segmentation, including new channels as they appear (ChatGPT ads, for example).
- Work with Product Marketing to line campaigns up with positioning, ICPs, and messaging, and feed campaign data back into targeting and value propositions.
- Represent paid acquisition across GTM, Product Marketing, and Data, keeping the strategy tied to the product roadmap and business objectives.
- Report to the Head of Marketing on what the spend returned, what's at risk, and where the opportunities are.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS
By the end of the first 3 months, we expect you to
- Develop a deep understanding of Apify's offering, target audiences, and current channels.
- Build strong relationships with your direct reports and key cross-functional leaders (Marketing/Product Marketing, Product, Sales, Data, Finance) to understand the full business context.
- Conduct a strategic audit of the entire performance marketing function, including team structure, strategy, channel mix, budget allocation, and data/tech infrastructure (attribution model), as well as a thorough review of all creative assets and messaging.
- Assume leadership of the existing team, assessing individual strengths, development goals, and the team's structural readiness to scale.
- Deliver a 90-day strategic plan that outlines quick wins and identifies long-term priorities for scalable growth. This plan must be informed by your initial audits and include findings and recommendations for leadership on marketing attribution, outlining existing gaps and proposing a clear, realistic path toward a unified multi-touch attribution model.
- Guide your team in implementing quick wins to improve the performance and efficiency of existing campaigns.
By the end of the first 6 months, we expect you to
- Develop and present a performance marketing strategy and roadmap to the leadership team, including a detailed budget, hiring plan, and technology stack recommendations.
- Begin executing this strategy, restructuring or scaling the team and the attribution model as needed.
- Implement a scalable operating model for the team, standardizing reporting, testing frameworks, and creative briefing processes. Work with the Head of Marketing, Head of Content, and Product Marketing Lead on a unified model that works across all marketing campaigns.
- Demonstrate clear, measurable improvements in key acquisition metrics (user growth, CAC efficiency) and establish yourself as the owner of the performance marketing function, reporting its impact to the business.
