About The Role

Overview

Provides portfolio management (trading) services across a large number of accounts (estimated at 300 Investment Policy’s and over 1 Billion in AUM) to transition portfolios toward Wilmington Trust’s best thinking. Works with Investment Advisor (IA) to understand objectives, constraints, and tax budget of portfolio and proactively communicates with Investment Advisor, making them aware of trades when they occur.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage Desktop Managed Equity (DME) accounts by coordinating with Investment Advisor on appropriate tax budget, targeting specific Wilmington Trust Equity strategy, and implementing trades in a timely manner throughout the year in accordance with transition plan. Collaborate with IA in decision making process, marrying the firm’s best thinking with the clients needs.
  • The Client Portfolio Manager can also manage the entire portfolio to make trades to move towards appropriate target multi asset class strategy set by the IA and client.
  • Proactively manage the client’s accounts by placing trades and monitor tracking error in portfolios in accordance with transition plan.
  • Track trades and provide timely communication with Investment Advisors.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years’ investment-related experience, including internships, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience.
  • Good knowledge of procedures and concepts within discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of trading procedures, investment platform, and implementing firms best thinking.
  • Selects alternatives from defined options in a variety of work routines.
  • Inputs to decisions within own discipline.
  • Involves the regular exchange of information.

Education and Experience Preferred

  • Thorough understanding of stocks, bonds, ETFs, SMAs, and mutual funds.
  • Desire to pursue investment career in asset management.
  • Proficient personal computer skills with solid knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Ability to use software programs and financial calculator.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to synthesize data to determine correct policy and strategy and implement such strategy in the most efficient manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
