About The Role

Who are we?

At Finastra, we’re a global leader in financial services software, dedicated to expanding access to financial services and shaping what’s next for the industry. Our technology powers mission‑critical solutions across Lending, Payments and Universal Banking, supporting over 7,000 customers, including 80% of the world’s top 50 banks, in more than 110 countries.

What will you contribute?

Reporting to QA lead, the Senior Quality Engineer creates and executes product test plans to ensure software products meet design specifications and product quality standards. Assists Development team with process improvements to improve product quality.

Role

You own quality across a cloud-native SaaS platform serving financial institutions. You design and build the automation framework, enforce quality gates in CI/CD, and work alongside engineers from requirements through release — not just at the end of the cycle.

Technical Skills

Test Automation — Must Have

  • Strong Playwright experience — end-to-end test authoring, page object model, fixtures, network interception, multi-browser execution
  • TypeScript proficiency — writing maintainable, typed test code, not just scripts
  • API testing — REST endpoint validation, contract testing, response schema assertions
  • CI/CD integration — plugging Playwright into pipelines, parallelisation, reporting, failure triage
  • Selenium experience as a fallback — can migrate legacy Selenium suites to Playwright where needed

Backend & Integration Testing

  • Java testing — JUnit 5, Mockito, Spring Boot integration tests (@SpringBootTest, MockMvc)
  • Database validation — asserting persistence outcomes against Oracle; understanding of extension/EAV table patterns
  • Experience testing multi-tenant systems — verifying per-tenant data isolation, JWT-based access, configuration scoping

Performance & Security Testing

  • Basic load and performance testing — k6, Gatling, or equivalent
  • Awareness of OWASP Top 10 in test design — SQL injection, broken access control, input boundary testing

Ways of Working

  • Shifts quality left — reviews requirements and design for testability before a line of code is written
  • Defines and maintains the test pyramid — unit, integration, E2E, contract; knows what belongs at each layer
  • Owns CI quality gates — flaky test management, coverage thresholds, regression baselines
  • Writes test plans for complex features — custom field flows, hook delivery (Java class and webhook), multi-tenant schema rendering
  • Partners with engineers on observability — structured log assertions, trace-based test verification
  • Feeds defect patterns back into development process — root cause, not just ticket count

What We Expect at This Level

  • You build the automation framework others contribute to, not just tests others run
  • You triage a CI failure in 10 minutes and know whether it's a flake, a regression, or an environment issue
  • You challenge incomplete acceptance criteria before sprint start
  • You treat test code with the same discipline as production code — reviewed, refactored, documented
