Job Description

Director, Platform Delivery

The Director, Platform Delivery is accountable for the delivery performance, capability, effectiveness and long-term sustainability of HR technology teams responsible for building, enhancing and evolving HR technology solutions. The role ensures teams have the capacity, talent, skills, leadership, structure and ways of working required to translate priorities and technical direction into high-quality business outcomes for employees, managers and HR partners. Working through a shared leadership model, the Director partners across Product Management, Technology Enablement and Strategy, Agile Delivery Leadership and HR Technology Operations to strengthen delivery effectiveness, develop people, build organizational capability and ensure assigned teams can successfully deliver agreed business outcomes.

What will you do?

  • Be accountable for the overall delivery performance, capability, effectiveness and sustainability of assigned teams.
  • Ensure teams consistently translate agreed priorities and technical direction into high-quality delivered outcomes with the appropriate capacity, skills, leadership and team structures in place.
  • Partner with Agile Delivery Leads to strengthen flow, planning, predictability, agile maturity and delivery effectiveness.
  • Use delivery evidence, team insights and performance trends to identify constraints, capability gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build resilient, collaborative and effective teams with clear expectations for roles, decision making, collaboration, accountability and outcomes.
  • Lead, coach and develop Senior Analysts, Analysts and other delivery professionals; provide ongoing coaching, candid feedback, performance leadership, development planning and career guidance.
  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance and talent development; identify capability or capacity gaps and create practical plans to address them.
  • Help individuals and teams adopt new technologies, roles, ways of working and organizational models while maintaining focus on delivery outcomes.
  • Partner across Product Management, Agile Delivery, Technical Strategy and Enablement, and HR Technology Operations to ensure the right people, capabilities, leadership and team structures are in place to achieve agreed outcomes.

What you’ll need to succeed?

  • Significant experience leading technology, digital, platform or enterprise solution delivery teams.
  • Demonstrated success improving delivery performance, team effectiveness and business outcomes in a complex organization.
  • Experience ensuring teams have the capacity, skills, structures and leadership needed to meet commitments and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience working within agile or product-oriented operating models and partnering effectively across Product, Technology, Delivery and Operations leadership.
  • Demonstrated success building healthy, high-performing teams and strengthening leadership capability.
  • Strong experience leading and developing people, providing feedback and supporting meaningful career growth.
  • Experience leading workforce planning, talent development, succession, recruitment and organizational capability building.
  • Experience leading teams through transformation, organizational change and new ways of working.
  • Experience using evidence and performance insights to identify delivery constraints and guide improvement.
  • Experience with enterprise HR technology or comparable business platforms is an asset.
  • Knowledge and capabilities in technology and platform delivery leadership; delivery performance, capacity and capability management; agile and product-oriented ways of working; high-performing team leadership; people leadership, coaching and performance enablement; workforce, talent and succession planning; organizational design and capability building; change leadership and adaptability; stakeholder partnership and influence; systems thinking, evidence-based improvement and continuous learning.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
