This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineer who thrives in complex project environments, enjoys working on alternative project delivery programs, and is motivated to play a meaningful role in growing Parsons’ drainage practice.
In addition to delivering high-impact work on signature transportation projects, this role offers the opportunity to mentor, guide, and help develop junior engineers and design staff. What You'll Be Doing
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to junior engineers and staff in drainage design practices, advanced engineering software and modeling tools, and project delivery methods.
- Serve as a leader within Parsons’ drainage practice, supporting the delivery of major transportation projects with a focus on design-build and alternative project delivery.
- Assist in the management of drainage design on large-scale projects, or lead drainage design efforts on small- to mid-scale projects.
- Coordinate closely with roadway, utilities, structural, and other discipline counterparts to support integrated project delivery.
- Communicate effectively with project managers and project teams to help ensure successful project execution.
- Participate in the leadership and advancement of the technical community for hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management.
- Perform or lead the development of project plan production, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, design reports, and technical memoranda.
- Direct CADD staff on complex plan production and workspace setup.
- Ensure quality procedures are followed and contribute to the development of best practices, quality workflows, checklists, and procedures for project and pursuit deliverables.
- Support the development of baseline design schedules and time estimates, track progress and earned value for drainage design tasks, and provide leadership to project staff on time and task management.
- Lead or support the development of design estimates and quantities during project startup and throughout final design deliverables.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of related engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer registration may be required
- Demonstrated experience in drainage design, hydrology and hydraulics analysis, and stormwater management for transportation projects, including highway and rail.
- Project experience supporting design-build and alternative project delivery methods.
- Expert-level proficiency in Bentley drainage software environments, including OpenRoads Designer Drainage and Utilities, InRoads S&S, and/or GEOPAK Drainage, as well as StormCAD.
- Experience with commonly used drainage software such as SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, FlowMaster, HY-8, and related tools.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to support complex, fast-paced transportation projects while maintaining a high standard of technical quality.
