Section 508 / Quality Assurance Tester
connexushub · Remote, United States
About The Role
Connexus Hub Inc. is a woman-owned small business that supports federal agencies with professional and technical services. We are hiring a Section 508 and Quality Assurance Tester for a federal corrections training modernization program.
You are the technical authority on accessibility for this program. You will set the accessible templates and the conformance checklist that the design team builds to, test what they produce, and deliver a conformance record with every course. Most of the existing catalog has never been formally audited, so part of the job is establishing the baseline rather than only checking against one. This is a deliberately part-time role of roughly half time, because the conformance standard works best as a single-owner artifact. The work is fully remote and this position is contingent on contract award.
What you will do
- Serve as the primary technical authority for ensuring digital deliverables, training products, and interfaces conform to federal accessibility mandates.
- Conduct rigorous manual and automated accessibility testing to validate conformance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
- Establish accessible authoring templates, the color-contrast palette, and caption and transcript standards, and publish the conformance checklist the designers build to.
- Perform baseline accessibility audits of existing courses where no prior audit or conformance report exists.
- Identify, document, and track non-compliance defects through the development lifecycle and give the design team actionable remediation guidance.
- Maintain compliance documentation and deliver a per-course conformance record with each product.
What you need
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience in accessibility testing and quality assurance.
- Three or more years conducting Section 508 and WCAG conformance testing on digital products, including e-learning or web-based training.
- Hands-on command of both automated scanning tools and manual keyboard and screen-reader validation.
- Ability to write defect documentation and remediation guidance a designer can act on without a follow-up meeting.
- Availability during core hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday, within an agreed part-time schedule.
What helps
- Accessibility certification such as IAAP CPACC or WAS.
- Experience authoring VPATs or Accessibility Conformance Reports.
- Familiarity with ELB Gold Suite Studio (Lectora), Articulate 360 Suite, and SCORM packaging.
- Prior work on a federal contract where accessibility conformance was a graded deliverable.
Details
- Employment type: part time, approximately 975 hours in the base year, with continued part-time support anticipated in the option year. Overtime is not authorized on this program.
- Location: fully remote from anywhere in the United States. No travel is required.
- This position is contingent on award of the contract to Connexus Hub Inc. and on any background or suitability screening the customer requires.
