About The Role

As a Cyclic Operator, you’ll be part of a hands-on crew delivering essential road maintenance work across the West Coast network. This is an outdoor role where no two days look exactly the same, and your work will help keep roads safe, reliable, and ready for the communities that use them every day. You’ll be trusted to get stuck in, work well with the team, and bring a safety-first mindset to everything you do. If you enjoy practical work, take pride in doing the job properly, and are comfortable working in a changing environment, this might be the role for you.
The West Coast IDC contract involves roading maintenance, renewals and operational work for 870kms of state highways within the district, stretching from Haast in the south to Mokihinui in the north, and across to the main divide of the Southern Alps. It is a full-time position, with work carried out across weekdays and, at times, outside normal hours to meet operational needs, weather events, or response requirements.

- Complete road inspections and required maintenance activities across the network.
- Promptly respond to emergency events/callouts and provide an overall great service to the West Coast community.
- Act as the face of the contract, ensuring a professional approach in public relations.
- Maintain a high attention to detail to produce accurate records and reporting.
- Perform any other general maintenance tasks as required.
- Work closely with the wider crew to deliver Good Work for our customers and communities.

- Previous experience in Road maintenance, ideally cyclic operations .
- Class 2 drivers’ licence and WTR endorsements (training can be provided for those without!).
- The ability to work unsupervised as well as in a face paced team environment.
- A proactive approach to health and safety – it’s our #1 priority!
- A strong sense of community ownership, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A focus on quality and caring for the environment.
- A willingness to learn and advance current skills to meet contract objectives.
