Job Description
The Senior Analyst, Global Lease Accounting & Administration is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, administration, controls and data integrity of Greif's global lease portfolio. The role serves as the primary day-to-day subject matter expert for the lease accounting platform and partners with Corporate Accounting, External Reporting, Shared Services and local Finance and Operations teams globally. The position will support the Lease Software and play a key role in evaluating and implementing the future lease platform, including data migration, testing, process redesign and integration with Infor LN.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the global lease portfolio, including new leases, renewals, modifications, terminations, buyouts, payment changes, entity changes and other lease events.
- Review lease agreements and supporting documentation and accurately abstract key lease terms, payment schedules, options, commencement dates, asset information and accounting attributes.
- Apply ASC 842 requirements and support lease classification, modification accounting, lease-term assessments and other lease accounting analyses; escalate complex or judgmental matters as appropriate.
- Support SEC and local statutory GAAP reporting requirements
- Execute and document lease-related internal controls, including controls over completeness, accuracy, expiring/evergreen leases, system data and reconciliations.
- Act as main liaison for internal and external audit
- Proactively monitor upcoming expirations and outstanding submissions and work with business and Finance contacts to ensure lease activity is identified and recorded timely.
- Support monthly and quarterly close activities by validating lease-system output, investigating discrepancies and coordinating with the Budapest Shared Services team and Corporate Accounting.
- Reconcile and analyze lease-system information against relevant financial and operational data and drive identified differences to resolution.
- Maintain lease documentation, process procedures, control evidence and audit support; provide training and guidance to regional and local Finance teams on global lease processes.
- Serve as a key Finance SME for the lease-system RFP and implementation, including requirements definition, vendor evaluation, data cleansing and migration, user acceptance testing and implementation.
- Support the design, testing and ongoing monitoring of interfaces between the lease platform and ERP, including the future automation of lease balance-sheet and income-statement accounting.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate and strengthen the global lease process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- 4-7 years of relevant experience in lease accounting, controllership, lease administration, shared services or a related accounting function.
- Strong working knowledge of ASC 842; knowledge of IFRS 16 is preferred.
- Experience with a lease accounting or administration platform such as LeaseAccelerator, Visual Lease, Nakisa, MRI ProLease, FinQuery, Yardi or similar.
- Experience with account reconciliations, financial close processes and internal controls.
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial-system interfaces; Infor LN experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- CA, CMA, CPA-equivalent qualification or experience in a multinational public company, GCC/shared-services environment or Big Four organization is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to interpret lease contracts and translate commercial terms into lease-system and accounting requirements.
- Strong analytical, data-quality, reconciliation and problem-resolution skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong control discipline, including the ability to execute SOX controls and maintain complete audit evidence.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work effectively with large datasets, system outputs and interface reconciliations.
- Experience with system implementations, data migration, UAT or finance-process transformation is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, follow issues through resolution and escalate appropriately.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across countries, functions and time zones.
- Experience with both equipment/fleet and real-estate leases is preferred.

- Travel is not expected; however, you may occasionally be required to travel to Greif locations to support process transformation, system implementation or business-partnering activities.
