Job Title: Sr. Lead Engineer – Frontend Platform

About the Role & The Team
We are building a foundational Core UI Platform Team to own, scale, and govern the frontend ecosystem for our enterprise SaaS product suite. This role offers the opportunity to shape platform capabilities used across multiple product teams, improve developer productivity, and influence how modern frontend engineering is practiced at scale.
Working closely with the UI Architect and reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will translate architectural direction into scalable, production-ready implementation plans. You will lead day-to-day technical execution, own core platform delivery, and ensure solutions align with the platform roadmap and engineering standards.

- Own technical implementation decisions within the established architecture.
- Recommend improvements to platform capabilities and engineering practices.
- Escalate architectural trade-offs and major technology decisions to the UI Architect.
- Drive engineering excellence through technical leadership and mentorship.

What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
- Implementation Ownership: Lead the implementation of complex features, shared components, and platform tooling for an enterprise-grade SaaS product.
- Technical Leadership: Lead technical execution for sprint commitments by:
- Translating architectural designs into implementation plans.
- Breaking down complex epics into technical tasks.
- Coordinating implementation across developers.
- Identifying and mitigating technical risks early.
- Driving technical discussions during sprint execution.
- Platform Ownership: Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of shared components, Storybook, reusable utilities, frontend frameworks, and developer tooling. Create technical documentation and support developer onboarding.
- Collaboration: Partner with the UI Architect, Product Managers, Backend, QA, UX, and DevOps teams to deliver platform initiatives. Support technical estimation and sprint planning with the Engineering Manager.
- CI/CD & Tooling: Support the evolution of frontend build pipelines, dependency management, release automation, and CI/CD processes to improve developer productivity, build reliability, and deployment efficiency.
- Quality & Testing: Drive quality by implementing and reviewing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests while promoting test automation best practices across the team.
- Production Support: Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root cause analysis for critical frontend incidents.
- Mentorship & Code Quality: Conduct rigorous PR reviews, enforce strict TypeScript/React standards, and mentor mid-level and junior developers.
- AI-Enabled Development: Drive practical adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve implementation speed, code quality, testing efficiency, documentation, and developer productivity. Build reusable AI skills, prompts, agents, or integrations where they add clear engineering value.
What You Bring (Must-Have Qualifications)
- Engineering Leadership: 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leading frontend development for enterprise-scale applications; strong communication, mentoring, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Frontend Expertise: Expert-level proficiency in modern React, JavaScript, and strict TypeScript, including hooks, context, performance optimization, component composition, and scalable application patterns.
- Architecture & Platform Engineering: Hands-on experience building scalable microfrontends, shared component libraries, internal design systems, reusable utilities, and frontend platform capabilities for enterprise SaaS products.
- SaaS, Security & Reliability: Strong understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architectures, frontend security best practices, MFA, secure session management, production troubleshooting, and client-side observability.
- Testing & Quality: Strong experience with modern testing practices using Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress, API mocking with MSW, code review discipline, and automated quality gates.
- AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Gemini, with practical application in development, testing, code review, documentation, or productivity workflows.
- Frontend Ecosystem & Tooling: Practical experience with Redux Toolkit, styled-components, Axios, Zod, react-router-dom, internal NPM packages, GitLab CI/CD, Vite/Webpack, single-spa, ESLint, Prettier, Husky, and related tooling.
Nice to Have (Bonus Points)
- Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
- Data Visualization: Experience with charting libraries such as D3.js for analytics or dashboard-heavy features.
- Experience with accessibility standards, inclusive design practices, and WCAG-aligned frontend development.
- Experience with frontend performance profiling, bundle optimization, and runtime performance tuning.
- Experience with monorepo-based frontend development and shared package governance.
- Experience with enterprise design system governance, contribution models, and adoption tracking across multiple product teams.
