About The Role

  • Annual base salary from $126,306 - $140,543 plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Appointment type: Full time, Fixed-term contract until 31 January 2028
  • Based at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal campus, North Ryde

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated leader to manage the University's orientation and graduation functions and drive the development of innovative programs that enhance student engagement, belonging, and success.

About the role

The role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of major student events, ensuring a high-quality experience for students from commencement through to graduation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the efficient and effective delivery of conferral of awards, orientation and graduation ceremonies enhancing student experience and showcasing the University.
  • Coordinate, at an institutional level, the delivery of student orientation and transition programs including O-Week and student induction.
  • Lead the development of key student engagement and retention campaigns to support orientation programs and student transition initiatives at the University.
  • Manage the delivery of successful on-campus, off-campus and overseas graduation ceremonies.
  • Oversee conferral of awards ensuring that all aspects of the process are compliant.
  • Undertake projects in relation to the improvement of orientation, graduation and major student events and maintain effective and efficient planning processes.
  • Coordinate the collection and analysis of and evaluate and report on issues related to graduation and major student events, student engagement services and processes and optimising student engagement and participation.
  • Provide expert advice to students and key internal stakeholders on the policies, systems and processes related to orientation, graduation and major student events

About you

You’ll be a self-starting individual with excellent work organisation and time management skills and ability to remain resilient when under pressure. You will have expert planning, design and content development capabilities, able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels. You will enjoy working in a dynamic environment, applying a methodical and consultative approach in your work, and be motivated to deliver work outputs that are of a consistent high quality.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in business, education, finance, law or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of tertiary students and the Australian higher education system.
  • Expert knowledge of policies, processes and best practice relating to student engagement, transition and support within the higher education sector.
  • Extensive experience in designing, leading and successfully implementing major student events and engagement initiatives, involving diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage peak periods, competing priorities and multiple concurrent programs
  • High level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear documentation, communications and reports foe senior executives.
  • Ability to build and manage partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
