About The Role
POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for supervising the daily Public Area and Furniture operation, ensuring all guest and associates areas are maintained to Sheraton standards with a strong focus on cleanliness, presentation, furniture condition, guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. The Public Area & Furniture Supervisor leads the Public Area team during the assigned shift, ensuring effective deployment, regular inspections, timely follow-up of maintenance issues and consistent execution of cleaning standards. Public Area Operations Supervise the daily operation and cleanliness of all assigned public areas. Ensure all areas are cleaned according to established schedules and Sheraton brand standards. Conduct regular inspections and immediately correct cleanliness or presentation deficiencies. Ensure high-traffic areas are inspected and maintained at the required frequency. Monitor washrooms, lobby, restaurants, walkways, beaches, pool areas, service areas and other assigned locations. Ensure public areas remain guest-ready throughout the shift. Coordinate additional cleaning requirements for VIP arrivals, events, high occupancy and special functions. Ensure deep-cleaning schedules are followed and completed on time . Inspection & Quality Control Conduct regular inspections of assigned areas and document deficiencies. Follow up on corrective actions until completion. Monitor cleaning checklists and ensure associates complete assigned tasks correctly. Ensure public-area standards are maintained consistently throughout the shift. Report recurring quality issues to the Public Area & Furniture Manager. Monitor Guest Voice feedback related to cleanliness and take immediate corrective action. Furniture Management Conduct daily inspections of furniture in assigned public areas. Identify damaged, stained, worn or unsafe furniture. Report furniture defects and maintenance requirements promptly. Coordinate with Engineering and the Public Area & Furniture Manager for repairs. Ensure furniture is correctly positioned, clean and presented according to hotel standards. Assist with furniture movement, storage and protection during maintenance, renovation and events. Maintain accurate records of furniture issues and follow up on outstanding repairs . Team Supervision Allocate daily tasks according to occupancy, workload and operational priorities. Conduct daily briefings and communicate priorities, guest feedback and special requirements. Monitor associate attendance, grooming, punctuality and productivity. Ensure associates follow departmental LSOPs and cleaning standards. Coach associates on correct cleaning techniques, equipment and chemical usage. Identify training requirements and provide on-the-job coaching. Support the Manager in addressing performance concerns and recognizing good performance. Ensure effective use of casual and permanent manpower. Guest Service Ensure associates provide courteous, professional and responsive service to guests. Respond promptly to guest requests and cleanliness concerns. Follow up on guest complaints and ensure appropriate action is taken. Maintain a visible presence in public areas and anticipate guest needs. Escalate unresolved guest concerns to the Public Area & Furniture Manager. Inventory & Cost Control Monitor cleaning supplies, chemicals, equipment and other operational items. Maintain appropriate par stock levels and report shortages. Ensure equipment is used correctly to minimize damage and unnecessary replacement. Control wastage of chemicals and consumables. Report damaged or missing equipment immediately. Support the Manager in maintaining departmental cost efficiency. Preventive Maintenance Conduct regular checks for maintenance issues in public areas. Report defects through the appropriate maintenance system. Follow up on outstanding work orders. Ensure hazards are immediately reported and controlled. Coordinate with Engineering regarding furniture, flooring, lighting, fixtures and other public-area requirements. Ensure unsafe furniture or equipment is removed from guest use. Health & Safety Ensure all associates follow hotel Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety requirements. Ensure correct handling, storage and usage of chemicals. Ensure cleaning equipment is operated safely. Conduct regular safety checks within assigned areas. Report accidents, hazards and unsafe conditions immediately. Ensure associates understand fire and emergency procedures. Maintain a safe environment for guests and associates. Confidentiality The hotel requires that you will not either during or after your employment divulge any information about the hotel or its customers and guests to any third party without written authorisation from the General Manager or Director of Human Resources of the hotel. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Related Work Experience: Less than 1-year related work experience. Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience.
