Company: Mint Health + Drugs
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
Are you an ambitious pharmacist looking to transcend the traditional pharmacy model? At Mint Pharmacy: Blue Bottle, we operate at the intersection of high-acuity clinical care and specialized fulfillment operations.
We are looking for a clinical pharmacist who wants to master multiple pharmacy niches. You will not be confined to a single workstation; you will rotate through and lead initiatives across our Outreach, Clinical, Compounding, and fulfillment pillars. This role is built for leaders who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy complex clinical problem-solving, and have a desire to master the operational mechanics of a high-volume pharmacy.
Key Pillars of Your Practice
- Outreach & Clinical Expertise
- You will serve as a key clinical resource for our outreach programs, including Detox and Treatment facilities
- Clinical Assessments: Perform medication reviews (Med Recs), clinical assessments for clinic-dosing clients, and initial prescribing/renewals.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in daily rounds, work directly with LPNs and physicians, and coordinate care for vulnerable populations.
- Complex Care Management: Manage clinical documentation in CHR and Kroll, provide injection services, and navigate protocols for patients without existing drug coverage
- Fulfillment Operations
Reporting to Team Lead, Operations, you will actively manage day to day operations to ensure patient safety and delivery precision, troubleshooting backlogs in real-time.
- Workflow Optimization: Lead the pharmacy workflow alongside technicians to ensure prescriptions meet delivery deadlines
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to Alberta Blue Cross Frequency of Dispense (FOD) procedures and Narcotic SOPs.
- Compounding Pharmacy
You will have the opportunity to learn how to assess the clinical appropriateness of various compounds
- Technical Oversight: Assess compound order completeness, appropriateness, and stability.
- Workflow Leadership: Oversee the compounding assistant, ensuring compliance with cleaning logs, ingredient inventory management, and proper PPE protocols.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary contact for clinicians, patients, and external staff regarding turnaround times and formulation questions.
Core Responsibilities
- Triage & Urgency Management: Prioritize high-acuity prescriptions (OAT, antibiotics) vs. medium-urgency tasks using clinical judgment and established triage protocols.
- Problem-Solving: Lead the investigation of missing deliveries, coordinate with logistics/delivery, and handle date shifts for complex OAT tapers (Methadone/Kadian).
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to documentation and process standardization (e.g., Clinical Documentation Standards, Rx Inputting, and Compliance Checklists).
What You Will Gain
- Niche Expertise: Master the complexities of Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT), addictions and mental health, and pain management
- Operational Ownership: Move beyond just dispensing to understanding the mechanics of inventory, staffing, and logistical workflows.
- Leadership Development: Gain direct experience navigating a multidisciplinary team of technicians, production assistants, and external stakeholders
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Ambitious & Adaptable: You are not looking for a "static" role; you want to learn, adapt, and grow in a high-volume environment.
- Clinical Rigor: You have a strong grasp of clinical assessment, safe prescribing practices, and trauma-informed care
- Operations-Minded: You understand that clinical outcomes are deeply tied to operational efficiency.
- Communication Skills: You can effectively manage communication across various online platforms and documentation channels.
