The Opportunity

As Head of Data, reporting to the GM, Data & AI, you'll lead the build-out of our Enterprise Data Platform and the data products that enable our people to innovate faster for advisers and clients. Data is one of Netwealth's most valuable assets, and this role sits at the centre of how we unlock its value.

This is a genuine build opportunity.

You'll define the strategy, shape the roadmap, build the capability and create the operating model that allows data to be trusted, discoverable, reusable and easy to access across the organisation.

You'll lead the evolution of our data platform across Azure and Snowflake, establish modern ingestion and sharing patterns, build reusable data products, and create the foundations that enable our broader AI ambitions.

In this role, you will

  • Define and execute Netwealth's Data Engineering strategy
  • Build and scale our Enterprise Data Platform
  • Establish data products, domains and semantic layers that make data easy to consume
  • Create modern ingestion and sharing capabilities across internal and external ecosystems
  • Ensure strong standards for data quality, governance, security and privacy
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Data Engineering function
  • Partner across Technology and the broader business to deliver measurable outcomes

About you

You're a proven Data Engineering leader who has successfully built and scaled modern data capabilities in a complex environment.

You bring strong technical credibility but are equally comfortable shaping strategy, communicating vision and developing teams. You know how to bring structure to ambiguity, balance competing priorities and execute against a roadmap.

You'll bring

  • Experience leading Data Engineering, Data Platform or Data Product functions at scale
  • Deep expertise across modern cloud data platforms such as Azure and Snowflake
  • Experience building data products, domains and self-service data capabilities
  • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, security and regulatory obligations
  • Experience leading through Engineering Managers and technical leaders
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A track record of building high-performing teams and delivering meaningful outcomes
