What You’ll Be Doing 

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and pragmatic Solution Architect to join our Corporate Information Services team. 

Reporting to the Lead Solution Architect, you will help shape and govern the City’s enterprise application landscape, ensuring technology solutions are secure, scalable, sustainable and aligned with business priorities. You will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams and technology specialists to translate complex business requirements into practical solution designs that maximise the value of the City’s technology investments. 

This is a hands-on architecture role with strong influence across digital transformation, enterprise applications, integration, data flows, Microsoft technologies, TechnologyOne and emerging digital capabilities including artificial intelligence.  

You will play an important role in strengthening architecture governance, improving technology decision-making and ensuring the City’s application environment continues to evolve in a way that supports service excellence, operational efficiency and long-term business value. 

• Design secure, scalable and sustainable solution architectures that support business objectives, digital transformation and service excellence.  
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify technology-enabled improvement opportunities and shape practical solutions that deliver business value.  
• Provide architecture leadership and governance across project and operational delivery, including design workshops, architecture reviews and solution assurance activities.  
• Develop and maintain application roadmaps, standards and architecture artefacts that support future-state technology planning.  
• Design integration approaches, data flows and application patterns that enable secure and reliable information exchange across enterprise platforms.  
• Support the optimisation and strategic evolution of TechnologyOne, Microsoft technologies and the broader enterprise application environment.  
• Ensure cybersecurity, privacy and information management requirements are considered by design, not added as an afterthought.  

Position Description

 

What You’ll Bring 

You are an experienced Solution Architect who can move confidently between business engagement, technical design and architecture governance. You enjoy understanding the problem behind the request, working with stakeholders to clarify needs, and translating complexity into practical, sustainable technology solutions. 

You bring demonstrated experience designing and governing enterprise application and solution architectures within a complex organisation. You have a strong understanding of cloud architecture, hybrid technology environments, system integration, ICT operations, information security, cybersecurity, privacy and secure-by-design principles.  

You are a clear communicator and confident facilitator who can influence both technical and non-technical audiences. You are comfortable leading architecture conversations, challenging assumptions respectfully, and helping project teams make informed decisions that align with enterprise standards, business objectives and strategic priorities.  

You will also bring a practical, delivery-focused mindset. You understand that good architecture is not just about design — it is about enabling projects to move forward with clarity, reducing risk, improving integration, and ensuring technology investments deliver lasting value. 

Experience with TechnologyOne or other large enterprise ERP platforms, Microsoft/Azure technologies, architecture frameworks, automation, data, artificial intelligence or advanced analytics will be highly regarded.

Additional Information

A satisfactory National Police Clearance is required for this position.

This is a Maximum Term Temporary position until 31 December 2027.
