About The Role

Business Overview

The Technology Management Division (TMD) provides corporate IT, cyber security, and privacy governance to Rakuten Group companies and essential business management for technology organizations, thereby enabling innovation and strengthening its technology foundation. Within TMD, the Information Security Supervisory Department (ISSD) combines proactive cyber defense with strategic information security, privacy, and data governance to protect the company’s global assets and data.

Department Overview

The Information Security & Privacy Governance Department (ISPD) enables and accelerates business growth by establishing, maintaining, and enhancing robust information security, privacy, data, and AI governance frameworks across the Rakuten Group. We ensure Rakuten's global operations are secure, compliant, and innovative by adhering to regulatory requirements, providing comprehensive employee training, strategically managing data assets, and governing AI responsibly.

Global Privacy Office (GPO), a division within ISPD, oversees privacy compliance and governance across the entire Rakuten Group. Working in close collaboration with privacy officers at each group company, we manage the frameworks that support Rakuten’s diverse and cutting-edge service offerings. Even if you do not have prior experience in privacy protection, we welcome candidates who are eager to persistently tackle unknown tasks. Candidates who are not confident in their English but possess a strong desire to improve their language skills are also encouraged to apply.

Position Details

  • Response to consultations from the business side regarding the development of privacy-conscious services
  • Establishment of internal rules to improve the level of privacy protection
  • Held internal seminars on privacy protection
  • Advice on responding to customer inquiries about privacy and media coverage
  • Response to incidents with potential privacy breaches

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Able to take on new challenges from scratch
  • Ability to do desk work, including reading legal documents

Desired Qualifications

  • Over 2 years of work experience (regardless of type of employment)
  • Lawyer license
  • Work experience in legal or compliance department
  • Work experience in information security or system development
  • Over 3 years of experience living overseas
  • Work experience in responding to customers and complaints, such as at a call center
  • Work experience of seminar lecturer or consultant
