Rakuten Mobile, Inc. operates as Japan's fourth mobile carrier, providing telecommunications services and related businesses. The Legal Department broadly supports business processes including structural design for diverse businesses and services, operational framework development, contract negotiations, and advertising material reviews. Additionally, it offers an environment with close proximity to business operations, providing opportunities to leverage both B to C and B to B experience. We are seeking individuals who can address a wide range of legal issues with a sense of urgency and a spirit of challenge.

We welcome candidates with corporate legal experience or attorney practice experience who can perform legal duties in such an environment.

Position Details

The S&M Legal Group, to which you will be assigned, is responsible for providing legal support to Rakuten Mobile’s Sales and Marketing departments.

Depending on your experience and skills, you will be assigned to either the B2C Legal Team or the B2B Legal Team, where you will primarily be responsible for the following tasks.

・Scheme development for new service launches in accordance with applicable laws and regulations

・Analysis and examination of legal issues related to various projects

・Drafting of contracts, terms and conditions, etc.

・Analysis and review of legal issues related to various campaigns

・Handling of litigation, disputes, and other legal matters

Work Environment

The S&M Legal Group consists of two teams: the BtoC Legal Team, which handles the BtoC sector, and the BtoB Legal Team, which handles the BtoB sector.

You will be assigned to one of these teams based on your experience; however, we implement a continuous rotation system, and depending on your preferences and other factors, you may be transferred to the NW Legal Group within the same Legal Support Section or to the Legal Department of Rakuten Group, Inc.

The ratio of new graduates to mid-career hires is roughly 50-50. Our mid-career staff members, who have diverse legal experience from law firms, manufacturers, IT companies, and other sectors, play active roles within the company.

-In-house legal experience about 3 years
-Law office attorney experience about 2 years

Desired Qualifications

・ Japanese attorney qualification
・ Experience in telecommunications/IT industry
・ Work experience in personal information and privacy-related matters
・ Proficiency in AI and information processing technologies
・ Business-level English

Other Information

Additional information on Location

Your primary work location is Rakuten Crimson House (you are required to come into the office once a week), but you may also work from the Higashi-Shinjuku and Shinagawa offices. In addition, you may work from home once a week (subject to change in the future in accordance with company policy).
