About The Role

Product Operations Principal Engineer

Provides coordination of operational activities associated with the introduction, sustainment of a new product (Display) worldwide. Responsible for ensuring stable, controlled migration of hardware, software and networking changes into the production environment as well as consistency between production and test environments. Creates/maintains build processes, coordinates product builds for release into production, prioritizes failures and works with development to resolve problems. Sets up configuration specifications for releases

As a Principal Engineer, you will own major portions of build orchestration, configuration specifications, and change management. You will develop test and release procedures that ensure consistent outcomes between labs and factories. You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and development teams to meet schedule and quality targets.

You will

  • Represents Worldwide Operations from a product perspective and creates factory strategies and plans for Worldwide Operations based on product plans, roadmaps, and budgets
  • Ensures Operations achieves Ready to Ship Release and transactions into production/sustaining
  • Utilizes Program Review Process (PrP)/Phase Gate Process to transition products from definition through to the sustaining phase
  • Utilizes metrics to improve new production, introduction process and product quality, at launch and throughout life of the program. Drives action plans and strategies to reduce overall manufacturing transformation cost as well as continuous improvement in PrP process, product manufacturability and flexibility, and operations cycle time and quality
  • Drives quality improvements by risk assessment/mitigation eliminating sources of defects in the design, supplier, new product introduction and manufacturing processes
  • Prepare and deliver operations reviews where necessary

  • Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines
  • Directs the application of existing principles and guides development of new policies and ideas
  • Understands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

Exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives. Interacts daily with functional peer groups and extended team. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of information. Conveys straightforward

Desirable skills

  • Typically requires 8+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree
  • Depth in build orchestration, automation, and configuration specifications.
  • Hands-on experience integrating lab and factory systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Collaboration with quality and manufacturing partners.
