Job Overview

Job Summary:**

The Mechanic Pipeline will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy equipment and machinery used in pipeline construction and operations, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Job Responsibilities:**

  • Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, pipelayers, welding machines, and vehicles, according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in equipment and machinery, utilizing diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Execute repairs, overhauls, and replacements of components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and undercarriages.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment malfunctions in the field or in the shop.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies necessary for equipment upkeep.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with operators and other team members to understand equipment issues and communicate repair progress.
  • May be required to travel to various job sites to perform on-site repairs and maintenance.

Job Qualifications:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical program in heavy equipment repair is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably within the pipeline or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems (12V/24V), and power trains.
  • Experience with various heavy equipment brands and models commonly used in pipeline construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license; CDL may be required depending on equipment being operated.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
