Position Overview

Reliability Electrician V

|Shift: 7 am - 3 pm|

Position Purpose

The Reliability Electrician V is the highest-level electrical maintenance technician position within the organization. This role is responsible for expert-level troubleshooting, advanced automation and controls programming, and technical leadership in maintaining the plant's most complex electrical, robotics, automation, and control systems.

The Reliability Electrician V ensures equipment operates at peak efficiency while maintaining the lowest reasonable operating cost. Additionally, this position serves as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, providing guidance to Reliability Electricians II-IV and supporting facility-wide reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Providing technical leadership and coaching to Reliability Electricians II-IV.
  • Sharing best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and technical expertise across the maintenance team.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, system performance, and maintenance processes.
  • Providing constructive feedback and recommendations to peers, supervisors, and plant leadership.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Maintain & Optimize Manufacturing Electrical Systems

Provide expert-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization for highly automated and complex manufacturing equipment, including:

AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) Systems

  • AGV software configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • AGV system controls and integration.
  • Safety system integration and validation.

Industrial Software & Control Platforms

  • Ignition Perspective
  • Siemens TIA Portal
  • Siemens STEP 7 (Versions 14, 15, 18, and 20)
  • OPC UA communications
  • Anybus Network Interface
  • KEBA HMI Systems
  • RoboteQ Drive Software
  • PEAK Software
  • RoborunPlus
  • SICK Safety Designer
  • SICK NAV340 and 3D Vision Systems
  • Zivan Charging Systems
  • Banner Programmable LED Indicators

AGV Control & Navigation Systems

  • ACE command configuration and management
  • Node creation, modification, deletion, and lock management
  • CADD layout drawing modifications
  • VMS and PLC programming modifications
  • Safety system programming and integration

Industrial Electrical Equipment

  • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Electric motors and motor controls
  • Power distribution systems
  • Control panels and associated equipment

Automation & Control Systems

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)

  1. Lead Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs

Serve as the lead technical resource for diagnosing and resolving complex equipment and system failures across the manufacturing operation.

Advanced Troubleshooting Responsibilities

  • Lead complex troubleshooting activities involving electrical, automation, robotics, and control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment failures with minimal downtime.
  • Analyze system performance data to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Support production and maintenance teams during critical equipment failures.

Diagnostic Expertise

  • Differentiate between:
  • Mechanical failures
  • Electrical failures
  • Controls and automation issues
  • Process-related issues
  • Product-related issues

Repair & System Recovery

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex equipment failures involving:
  • PLC logic and programming
  • Robotics systems
  • Motion control systems
  • Industrial networks and communications
  • Safety systems
  • SCADA and HMI platforms
  • Automated material handling systems
  • AGV control systems
  • Develop and implement sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
  • Document findings, repairs, and improvement recommendations to support long-term equipment reliability.

Preferred

  • 5 years of experience in electrical manufacturing
  • Technical degree, apprenticeship, or recognized industrial electrical certification
  • Extensive automation, robotics, or motion control experience
  • Strong PdM experience (IR, ultrasound, data analytics, oscilloscopes)
  • Experience leading major reliability or automation project
