This Opportunity

WSP USA is seeking an Intermediate Consultant - Commissioning to join its New York Commissioning Team. In this role, you will collaborate with owners, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary professionals on complex projects focused on sustainability, energy performance, and high-performing buildings.

The successful candidate will support commissioning for new and existing buildings, energy audits and retrofit projects, sustainability certifications, and measurement and verification activities.

You will work under the guidance of the New York commissioning lead, with opportunities to expand your technical expertise, contribute to business development, and progress toward project management responsibilities.

Your Impact

  • Execute commissioning activities for new and existing buildings in accordance with applicable ASHRAE standards and guidelines.
  • Review engineering design documents and provide commissioning-focused comments and recommendations.
  • Support energy audits, retrofit projects, measurement and verification, and sustainability certifications such as LEED and ENERGY STAR.
  • Commission mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire alarm, security, controls, nurse call, renewable energy, and other building systems.
  • Lead or support meetings, coordinate schedules, document issues, and prepare clear technical reports.
  • Collaborate with project teams and contribute to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • One to three years of post-education experience in building systems, commissioning, design, construction, controls, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of commissioning principles and project delivery for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, plumbing, electrical, controls, or smart building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and technical documentation.
  • Awareness of applicable building codes, regulations, compliance practices, and documentation requirements.
  • Sound judgment, analytical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets, and related digital tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, drug and alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and work outside standard business hours when required by project needs.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $84,500 - $105,600

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
