Assists dental professionals in delivering patient care by providing technical support for dental treatments, including preparation of treatment rooms and drugs. Coordinates daily operations in the dental area, manages inventory, and ensures efficient patient reception and communication.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist medical personnel within area (e.g., surgical staff, dentists, nursing personnel) in delivery of care/treatment (e.g., perioperative care, dental treatment).
- Provide ongoing technical support (e.g., room/equipment prep, drug prep and labeling) for execution of treatment plans/procedures.
- Coordinate general operations within area (e.g., patient reception/communication).
- Monitor and maintain inventory and supplies within area as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training
- High School Diploma/GED Required.
Minimum Experience
- 2+ years of dental assistance experience required.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law
- (LC: POLISH-TN) Coronal Polishing Certification by the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry required.
- (LC: DENRAD-TN) Dental Radiology Qualification by the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry required.
- (LC: NITOX-TN) Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Qualification by the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry required.
- Sealant Certification by the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry preferred.
- National Dental Assistant Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only
- (LC: DENTASSTTN) Dental Assistant Registration from the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry required. OR
- (LC: DentHygienist) Dental Hygienist Registration from the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry required.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $20.00 - $34.00 per hour for the role of Dental Assistant.
