Key Responsibilities

Referral Facilitation : Support the daily operations of the Physician/Patient Referral Office with all referral communication tools: i.e. referral phone lines, pager, and electronic referral submissions.

Communication & Customer Service : Coordinate external communications related to physician and patient referrals and provide responsive, high-quality service to patients, families, referring physicians, and other stakeholders.

Data Management : Maintain accurate patient and referral information within departmental databases and systems.

Clinical Coordination : Facilitate the timely exchange and distribution of relevant clinical information between external referring providers and internal clinical teams.

Problem Solving : Address complex patient and stakeholder questions and concerns, identify effective solutions, and escalate issues as appropriate.

Prioritization & Process Improvement : Manage competing priorities, adapt to changing needs, and identify opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.

The Candidate We Are Looking For

We are seeking a service-oriented professional who combines strong communication and organizational skills with sound judgment and a commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients, families, providers, and other stakeholders. Success in this role will require:

Strong Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of stakeholders. Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, both verbally and in writing, preferred.

Customer Focus : A commitment to understanding and responding to the needs of patients, families, referring providers, and internal teams with professionalism, sensitivity, and responsiveness.

Problem Solving : The ability to assess situations, anticipate potential challenges, and independently identify effective solutions.

Organization & Adaptability : Strong skills in planning, prioritizing, and managing multiple responsibilities while adapting to changing priorities and maintaining quality and efficiency.

Professional Demeanor : The ability to remain calm, attentive, and professional when managing complex or high-pressure situations.

Collaboration : The ability to work effectively with external referring providers, internal clinical teams, and other stakeholders to support a coordinated referral experience.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • 4+ years or 2+ years with a bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience interacting with patients and/or physicians preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases, database structures, or data management methodologies preferred.
  • Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
  • None required

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Sr Physician Referral Services Representative.
