Key Responsibilities

• Lead group exercise classes such as aerobics, strength training, yoga, Zumba, or other fitness programs in accordance with YMCA standards
• Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages participation and motivation
• Demonstrate proper techniques and safety procedures to ensure participant safety
• Monitor and assess participant progress, providing modifications as needed
• Maintain equipment and ensure the cleanliness of the class area
• Promote YMCA programs and services to encourage member engagement
• Stay current with industry trends and certifications to enhance class offerings

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

• Certified in group exercise instruction (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent)
• Proven experience leading group fitness classes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate and inspire participants of all fitness levels
• Knowledge of fitness safety standards and proper exercise techniques
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
