The Team Lead I, Accounting is responsible for leading a small RTR team while performing complex accounting activities within defined policies and best practices. The role combines operational delivery with team supervision, ensuring high-quality financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective execution of period-end close, with a dedicated focus on inventory accounting, costing, and valuation processes.

How you will contribute

  • Lead and support a small RTR team, ensuring efficient daily operations and high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
  • Review account reconciliations, financial results, and inventory-related transactions for compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversee inventory accounting processes, including production settlements, actual costing, inventory valuation, and allocation activities.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory volume drivers, purchase price variances (PPV), and production cost variances.
  • Ensure accurate execution and governance of manual inventory postings, accruals, adjustments, and goods-in-transit transactions.
  • Drive timely resolution of inventory discrepancies, reconciliations, and period-end close backlogs.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit readiness by providing accurate documentation and support.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to enhance team effectiveness.

What You Will Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with minimum 3 - 6 years of experience in accounting, Record-to-Report (RTR), or shared services environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem-solving, and sound decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking and connect operational activities to broader business objectives.
  • Experience in RTR processes, including general accounting, inventory accounting, reconciliations, standard costing, and period-end close activities.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and a strong understanding of financial processes and controls.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, compliance requirements, and audit support within a controlled financial environment.

Important Information Regarding This Position

For your awareness, IFF has announced its intention to sell its Food Ingredients Business to CVC Capital Partners. The sale is presently expected to close in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. The Food Ingredient business unit will remain a part of IFF until close and, at such time, it will transition to CVC Capital Partners.
