About The Role

Summary

The QA/QC Manager is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The role involves implementing quality control procedures, conducting inspections, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring continuous quality improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Duties

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor ongoing works to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, and third-party inspectors for inspections and approvals.
  • Review and approve material submittals, method statements, and technical documents related to quality.
  • Ensure proper implementation of quality control procedures for civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works (as applicable).
  • Identify non-conformances (NCRs), recommend corrective/preventive actions, and verify their closure.
  • Monitor testing activities (concrete, soil, welding, NDT, etc.) and review test reports.
  • Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and as-built documentation.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist in external audits as required.
  • Promote a culture of quality awareness on site through training and toolbox talks.
  • Coordinate with construction teams to resolve quality issues efficiently without impacting schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in QA/QC (e.g., ISO 9001, CSWIP, AWS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards (ASTM, BS, ACI, ISO, etc.).
  • Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly and reads blueprints accurately.
  • Has good understanding and knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances.
  • Has good written and verbal communication skills: expresses ideas clearly and effectively; uses proper grammar and syntax.(Basic Spanish preferred)
  • Has good finish carpentry skills relevant to commercial interior work; install finishes to specifications as needed.
  • Has good administrative skills: monitors the progress and coordination of work activities; keeps other members of the organization informed of progress and problems.
  • Has good management skills: establishes techniques to effectively and proactively monitor and supervise the work of subordinates and to follow up on the results of delegated assignments.
  • Maintains integrity: maintains the normal standards of ethics, conduct, and organizational policies in job-related activities.
  • Has excellent problem-solving ability: finds and uses relationships between data from different sources to formulate alternative solutions.
  • Is a team player: works well with other people; takes time to help co-workers, customers, subcontractors and others achieve their goals and assignments.
  • Maintains good interpersonal relationships: uses tact; is sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.

  • Is professional: displays appropriate appearance and professional conduct; makes a good impression on others.
  • Shows initiative: actively tries to influence events to achieve goals; is a self-starter, working well with minimal supervision; strives to achieve goals beyond minimal levels of performance.
  • Has the ability to operate office equipment, such as fax, copier, and telephone. Can use spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Knowledge and use of CMiC preferred.
