Job Summary
The Production Worker / Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. This role supports the manufacturing process by identifying defects, maintaining equipment, and following production protocols.
This job profile is intended for support staff that follows established procedures and works under close supervision. Smaller/easier decisions are made autonomously.

Basic Function
Under indirect supervision and following JWCE’s Standard Operating Procedures , maintains a high degree of quality in the safe and efficient operation of machine tools and welding equipment to cut, punch, drill, deburr, join, fabricate, and prepare and weld metal material to produce precision fabricated parts.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Reads blueprints, drawings, sales orders, and engineering information to determine required dimensions & tolerances, methods & sequences of operations to fabricate JWCE products
- Uses precision tools and instruments such as calipers, and tape measurers with knowledge of mathematics to transfer fractions to decimals, to determine and verify dimensions and tolerances, examine or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to customer specifications
- Safely and efficiently selects and operates appropriate equipment such as Band Saws, Punch Presses, Milling Machines, Cutting Machines, MIG and TIG Welders, Sanders, Buffers or Polishers, Boring Machines, Shapers or Grinders and Cutting Machines amongst others, to produce parts to JWCE’s specifications
- Ensures that all parts are deburred & prepared for welding or other subsequent operations
- Follows preventive maintenance procedures to clean & lubricate machines, tools & equipment, removing grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter keeping them in safe working condition
- Designs fixtures, tooling, or experimental parts to meet special engineering needs
- Dismantles JWCE’s product machines or equipment, using hand tools or power tools to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed
- Uses forklifts and hoisting equipment to load and unload heavy parts and tooling
- Understand and adheres to JWCE’s-5S and Safety standards
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Education, Experience & Skills
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous Weld or Fabrication experience
Desirable
- Machine shop training program and/or AWS Certification
- Proficient in properties of metals and identification of raw materials, and different production processes and using of shop machines
- Meticulous and detail oriented, highly self-motivated, able to work independently
Decision Authority: Duties are performed with specific directions given and work is checked or verified visually by supervisor on a frequent basis. Decisions are made within specific operational instructions and departmental guidelines that follow Standard Operating Procedures to obtain quality products in a timely manner
