About The Role

General Summary: Weld and/or join metal seams and fabricate metal and/or pipe.

Essential Functions

  • Understands and obeys all safety rules and policies.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Proficient at reading blueprints/drawings, weld procedures and weld identification/stamping procedures.
  • Erect structural steel members into final positions, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Check grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using proper tools including but not including comealongs and chain hoists.
  • Proficient at identifying metals and compatible fillers and weld types.
  • Operate heavy equipment at a Tier 1 level.
  • Sets up framework of building by positioning steel girders and then bolting them into place.
  • Identifies proper bolts, bolt assemblies, and gaskets, then using torq equipment to align flanges and connect pipe.
  • Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of steel members.
  • Cut, bend, grind, or weld steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
  • Work in a team to achieve daily goals.

Educations/Experience

Minimum of 5 years industrial construction/oil and gas experience. Emphasis in Facility, Pump, and Compressor Stations preferred. Minimum of 1-year working alongside rigging and critical lift applications. Understand and communicate in English. Maintain active Drivers License. Welders certification as required by state and pass all required site-specific welding tests.

Environment: Regular work schedules, frequent overtime will be required to complete projects or specialized training. Overnight travel up to 85%. Works outside in extreme heat and cold. Wears site required PPE.

Physical: This position is defined as Very Heavy. Work involves exerting 100 pounds of force frequently using body, hands, fingers, arms, legs or feet to complete work. Walking, standing, bending, kneeling and lifting to a significant degree. Rarely sitting.

Other: This position requires reliable transportation, steel toed boots, and passing DOT drug and alcohol test.
