The Director, Quality Engineering carries out procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements. The Director, Quality Engineering requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.
The Director, IT Portfolio Management leads business operations for the Enterprise Software Quality Engineering organization, supporting a large-scale workforce of associates, contractors, and strategic partners. This role drives portfolio governance, financial planning, workforce strategy, vendor management, executive reporting, and organizational effectiveness to ensure alignment with enterprise technology priorities and quality transformation initiatives. The Director serves as a strategic advisor to technology leadership and enables operational excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Quality Engineering portfolio governance, planning, prioritization, and performance management.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, resource management, and investment governance.
- Manage vendor and strategic partner performance, contracts, and service delivery outcomes.
- Develop executive dashboards, scorecards, reporting, and business reviews to support decision-making.
- Drive organizational effectiveness, communications, engagement, and change management initiatives.
- Lead operational execution and governance of Quality Engineering transformation programs.
- Partner with Technology, Finance, HR, Procurement, and Enterprise Portfolio Management to align priorities and resources.
- Foster continuous improvement, innovation, and value realization across the organization.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in technology portfolio management, business operations, program management, strategic planning, or related disciplines.
- 5+ years of leadership experience supporting large-scale technology organizations.
- Experience managing budgets, workforce planning, vendor relationships, and executive-level governance.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
- Proven ability to influence and lead across complex, matrixed environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
- Background supporting Quality Engineering, Software Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Technology Operations.
- Knowledge of Agile, Lean Portfolio Management, SAFe, and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives and vendor ecosystems.
- MBA, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar credentials.

Work-At-Home Requirements
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates', the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
- Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
- Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
- Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$156,600 - $215,400 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
