About The Role

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Supervisor to join the Data Center Power and Control Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA . The Field Service Supervisor role will supervise Starline’s Field Service Technicians. The Supervisor works directly with Technicians, Coordinators, Sales, End Users, and Contractors to ensure that all services are completed on time and to a high degree of quality. The employee must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Lead a team of remote Field Technicians.
  • Write work instructions and methods of procedure (MOP’s).
  • Provide support for quoting high-profile projects.
  • Order materials and equipment from Starline and vendors.
  • Review Technician field reports.
  • Manage warehouse/rental inventory.
  • Train and mentor internal and third-party technicians.
  • Identify and specify required testing equipment for new or existing on-site services to create efficiency gains or to increase depth of testing.
  • Support the development of relationships with third party contractors around the world.
  • Quote rework to customers and representatives.
  • Conduct frequent One-on-One meetings with each Technician.
  • Conduct annual reviews with the Technicians and develop career plans.
  • Approve expense reports.
  • Hire new technicians.
  • Approve technician overtime.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience working in a supervisory role.
  • Must be able to work in office 3 days a week.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to rent a vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain government-mandated security clearances.
  • Ability to obtain a company credit card with credit limit of $5,000.
  • Experience using power and electrical testing tools and equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience working with electrical components and meters.
  • Willingness to complete mandated training and certification programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers verbally and in writing.
  • MS Windows/MS Office experience – Word, Excel, and Outlook in particular.
  • Service oriented, actively looking for ways to help others and provide solutions.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning.
  • Ability to present and maintain yourself professionally as a Starline representative. The employee must follow applicable dress and conduct expectations and act respectfully with others while at a job site.
  • Ability to travel, by airplane and by rental or personal vehicle to customer sites.
  • Must be willing to make overnight trips, staying in one location for up to four consecutive nights, or longer on rare occasions.
  • Willingness and desire to train and support both internal technicians as well as on-site customers, electricians, contractors and end users.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Work performed at customer sites may be on active construction sites, which will require, in certain areas; the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, specific footwear, mandatory hearing protection and electrical safety clothing.
  • Ability to work remotely.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform work while standing on a ladder.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs occasionally; ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs daily.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time via car or airplane.
  • Ability to work long hours as needed at customer sites.
