About The Role

The incumbent is responsible for the development, planning and execution of internal and external communications and media relations and will collaborate with all levels of management.

Answer inquiries from media, individuals and other organizations as it relates to public relations and communications including development of statements and materials

Prioritizing requests, engaging reporters and anticipating story angles

Respond to requests for information from the media

Writes and collaborates internal communications with misc. departments as needed and serves on internal work groups to support organizational initiatives. (Human Resources, Nursing, Nutrition, Foundation, Pastoral Care, Compliance and Legal, Education, etc.)

Serves as back-up to the Director of Communications and PR (media scheduling, interviews)

Plan and assist press events as needed

Serves as the main communications liaison for the Cerner EMR project

Regular and consistent contact with marketing, legal, clinical and management teams to ensure messaging and brand alignment

Attends meetings with executive management and/or internal business partners and service line leadership

Manages and works select community events such as local chambers, regional expos, and community based events. Assists with ground breakings and grand openings of new Centra services and facilities

Creates and presents presentations, as needed, to a variety of audiences

Stays current on communications/PR trends

May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specifications can be modified or updated at any time

Required Education: Bachelors Degree with emphasis in Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline

Required Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relative experience with proven expertise. Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple disciplines throughout the organization. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Strong time/project management skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work within tight timeframes and meet deadlines. Flexibility to attend meetings and/or functions after hours

Preferred Experience: Experience in healthcare or human services field

Required Certifications and Licensures: Valid Virginia Driver's License
