About The Role

The Social Worker 2 provides advanced clinical social work services within an interprofessional mental health care environment. This role focuses on assessment, treatment, crisis intervention, rehabilitation, discharge planning, and coordination of care for individuals with complex mental health, forensic, addiction, and concurrent disorders. The Social Worker 2 contributes to high-quality, recovery-oriented care while supporting program development, education, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

� Conduct comprehensive psychosocial, risk, and psychiatric assessments to inform treatment planning and discharge decisions.
� Provide individual counselling, brief psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation using evidence-based approaches.
� Facilitate therapeutic, psychoeducational, and support groups.
� Participate in interprofessional treatment planning, case conferences, and clinical decision-making.
� Support discharge planning, community reintegration, referrals, and coordination of internal and external services.
� Prepare required clinical, legal, and administrative documentation and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
� Engage families, caregivers, and significant others as part of the care and rehabilitation process.
� Apply principles of risk management, crisis intervention, harm reduction, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care.
� Provide supervision and mentorship to Master of Social Work students and support student education activities.
� Contribute to program planning, development, evaluation, research, and quality assurance initiatives.
� Collaborate with academic institutions and participate in professional education and knowledge-sharing activities.
� Maintain workload data entry and comply with documentation, regulatory, and legislative requirements.
� Support a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.

Qualifications

Requirements

� Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).
� Registration and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
� Clinical experience in mental health, forensic, addiction, concurrent disorders, or acute care settings.
� Demonstrated ability to conduct psychosocial and risk assessments and participate in treatment and discharge planning.
� Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, recovery-oriented practice, and interprofessional collaboration.
� Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
� Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, ethno-racial, and social backgrounds.
� Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Nice to Haves

� Post-graduate social work experience in forensic, acute care, emergency psychiatry, or addiction settings.

� Experience facilitating individual and group interventions using CBT, DBT, mindfulness, or other evidence-based modalities.

� Experience with psychiatric and forensic risk assessments and Ontario Review Board or legal reporting.

� Experience supervising MSW students and collaborating with academic institutions.

� Experience contributing to program development, research, education, or quality improvement initiatives.

� Knowledge of community mental health, substance use, and social service systems.

� PMAB or equivalent crisis management training.

� Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in an additional language.

Salary Range: $40.25 – $54.24 per hour
