This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: The Madison Club, set outside of La Quinta, CA.
The Madison Club is seeking a professional, friendly, and highly organized Fitness Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for Members and Guests visiting the Fitness Center. This highly visible role plays an important part in delivering an exceptional Member experience by creating a welcoming atmosphere while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Fitness Center.
The Fitness Receptionist is responsible for greeting Members, scheduling personal training and wellness appointments, assisting with Fitness Center inquiries, maintaining organized reception areas, and supporting overall facility operations. This position requires excellent hospitality skills, strong communication abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for health, wellness, and service.
The Madison Club operates during the winter and spring season. This is a part-time seasonal position from October through June. Hours may vary based on operational needs and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Key Responsibilities
- Member Experience
- Deliver exceptional, personalized service to Members and Guests at every interaction.
- Greet Members warmly and professionally upon arrival.
- Develop positive relationships with Members by learning names and preferences.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Fitness Center inquiries in person, by phone, email, and text.
- Assist Members with scheduling personal training sessions, fitness assessments, stretching appointments, and wellness services.
- Provide information regarding Fitness Center programs, classes, services, policies, and amenities.
- Handle Member concerns professionally and promptly while escalating issues when necessary.
- Maintain a positive, friendly, and solution-oriented attitude at all times.
- Fitness Center Operations
- Open and close the Fitness Center according to established procedures.
- Support daily scheduling of personal training, fitness assessments, and wellness appointments.
- Monitor trainer schedules and communicate updates, cancellations, and schedule changes.
- Utilize TEI and other Club systems effectively for scheduling and Member management.
- Assist with daily facility inspections and operational checklists.
- Help ensure fitness equipment areas remain clean, organized, and Member-ready.
- Communicate important Member requests and operational information to Fitness staff.
- Reception & Administrative Responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and text messages professionally and promptly.
- Process Member charges, personal training sessions, wellness services
- Maintain organized records, reports, and administrative documentation.
- Protect Member confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
- Assist with data entry, reporting, and various administrative projects.
- Support Fitness Center events, tournaments, wellness initiatives, and special programming.
- Maintain current knowledge of Fitness Center offerings, pricing, schedules, and promotions.
Facility Support
- Ensure towels, beverages, and Member amenities remain properly stocked.
- Support general cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the Fitness Center.
- Assist in maintaining an inviting and professional wellness environment.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Personal Trainers, Stretch Therapists, Group Fitness Instructors, Club staff, and other departments.
- Communicate effectively regarding Member preferences, appointment schedules, and operational updates.
- Assist team members during busy periods and support overall department success.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Operational Excellence
- Demonstrate initiative by identifying opportunities to improve Member service and daily operations.
- Prioritize multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain all health, safety, sanitation, and privacy standards.
- Represent The Madison Club with professionalism, integrity, and discretion .
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous customer service, hospitality, fitness, spa, hotel, resort, or front desk experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities .
- Professional phone etiquette and email communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling/POS software .
- Ability to learn new technology and software systems quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Frequent walking throughout the Fitness Center and Club facilities.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move fitness supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds .
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive administrative tasks.
- Work in both indoor and occasional outdoor environments.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $18.00 - $20. 00 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location
